Moisturizing Relax Me Natural Body Wash

What is your secret to winding down after a long, stressful day? Is it a cup of hot tea or to cuddle up in your favorite spot with a good book. How about a nice warm shower or bath?

Taking relaxing baths is my personal favorite, and since I’ve been making my own cleaning products to soothe my skin, I wanted to share my moisturizing “Relax Me” natural body wash with you.

Moisturizing Relax Me Natural Body Wash - Ingredients DIY Essential oil

Castile soap on its own is pretty effective. But I started having dry skin patches over the hot summer months, so I incorporated the moisturizing & hydrating power of almond oil and other moisturizing ingredients to leave my skin feeling soft and smooth again.

Now grab a pretty pump jar and these ingredients to make a relaxing and fresh smelling Lavender body wash that moisturizes as well as cleans.

Moisturizing Relax Me Natural Body Wash - How to

All you need for this recipe is; castile soap (I used lavender, but most any of the varieties will work here), almond oil, vegetable glycerin, jojoba oil, argan oil, and Lavender, Citronella & Cypress essential oils.

The almond oil is used to combine different components of the mixture while maintaining the benefits for use in skin and beauty products. I’ve used it here because it does not solidify at room temperature, but moisturizes as well as the unrefined oil. It’s also a carrier oil for the essential oils. Another oil such as coconut, olive, or grape seed could be used instead.

Order all ingredients here:

The jojoba oil has anti-inflammatory and soothing properties. It’s readily absorbed into the skin without clogging pores. Antioxidant rich argan oil works to moisturize as well as having anti-aging effects like boosting skin’s elasticity and collagen production.

Vegetable glycerin is used to thicken the mixture and also adds additional moisturizing properties to your wash. It helps draw moisture to the top layer of skin and helps prevent dryness. (this is optional).

The lavender, citronella and cypress oil are relaxing and calming, and smell fantastic. This body wash will definitely help you release some stress after a long workday.

Stir all ingredients together in a glass measuring cup and pour into a clean glass bottle. I used a pump top – it’s much easier to use in the shower than fumbling with a screw-top lid. (See below for source.) This body wash is concentrated, and a little bit is all you need for a rich lather.

Why I chose the three oils for this body wash

Lavender

Apart from being an anti-bacterial agent, Lavender oil happens to possess several regenerative properties which make it ideal to improve skin problems such as eczema, itchiness and combats excess sebum on skin.

Citronella

Is a powerful antioxidant, has anti-inflammatory properties, and many use it as a relaxant. Citronella oil is refreshing and uplifting, is ideal for skin problems such as acne, eczema and oily skin.

Cypress

This grounding oil eases and calms the mind and soul. Cypress oil improves liver health, discourages fluid retention and can improve the respiratory system.
