DIY // Wire Wrapped Bow Ring

Wouldn’t it be a cute idea to create a wire wrapped bow ring? I actually love the idea, and today I’ll make one for my readers! Enjoy

What you’ll need:

If you like to order the Bow Ring DIY Package, which includes supplies for two rings please click here.

1. Bend the wire in the center around a Mandrel or round object like a Nail polish cap.

2. Your left wire should be aligned on the top.

3. Bend one of the ends (right one first) into a loop so that it forms half a bow.

4. Bend the other end into a complimentary loop.

5. Wrap the end of your last bow ” under and over” in the center to tighten the bows.

6. Clip the excess wire from the ends off the bow.

7. File each end so you don’t scratch yourself.

All done! Wasn’t that hard, what do you think? Let me know…comments are welcome!

  1. Thanks so much for this tutorial. I just made this ring and I love it! It’s my new favorite! 🙂

  2. Great tutorial! I tried it out with aluminum and it worked great, but when I try with stiffer wire, I can’t quite get it. I don’t have much experience with hand forming wire, I usually use tools, any tips?

    1. Hi Theresa,
You could try it with Round/Flat Nose Bending Pliers. But stiffer wire is less bendable and I am not sure if right for this project. Have you looked into a half hard wire, that should be easy enough to bend, and holds its shape.

  3. I love bows – wearing them, admiring them, and making them! Thank you so much for the detailed tutorial, I am SO making one (or two) 🙂

  4. Okay for one, I NEVER comment or give feedback for ANYTHING, but I’m doing it for this tutorial! I’m seriously beyond craft challenge, I suck at any DIY activity lol, but the way you explained everything was perfect! Thanks so much :]

  5. You make it look so easy! My favorite thing about this is how little you need to make this happen. That to me means it’s going to be affordable. So many projects these days require buying special tools! Great tutorial 🙂

  6. I made one of these the other day for a friend and she loved it! I really liked the fact that it was easy (and fast!) to make, and we both could not be happier with how it turned out. I made it a bit bigger, and it looked lovely.

    MY WHITE IDEA DIY

  9. hi, I’m really, really new to jewellery diy, and I would like to try out your bow ring and your wrapped peach aventurine ring. So I was wondering if there are any basic materials that I should buy, and if there is a particular gauge wire that I would use the most, because I don’t want to buy loads of different wires and beads that I’m only going to use once. My school has the tools and some wires so I can use their tools when needed. I’m on a low budget so they can’t be ridiculously expensive.
    Thank you!

    1. Hi there @buttonsandbows, all you need is a half hard 18gauge wire, about 12inches in total. The wire metal isn’t important for now but to stay on budget I would start with copper or brass.

I can also offer you to order the DIY set for both rings from my shop, please let me know if you are interested?

      1. thanks for replying so quickly! how much would the diy set be for them both, and how much would they cost separately??
        thanks again!

        1. The bow ring package is $4.00 and the wire wrapped ring incl. stone is $6.50 shipping is $1.70 if combined or for each if you decide to only order 1 package for now!

Let me know and I will send you a link where you can place your order.

          1. Sounds great, but I live in England, will my money be converted to dollars??
sorry about all the questions, but I am interested in the bow one especially. Maybe later on I will consider the peach aventurine one.
            thanks

          2. thanks!!!! sorry, last request, can you give me the link for the peach aventurine wrap ring in case i change my mind.
            thank you again.
